New Energy Projects

Energy sourcing methods that transcend the dependence on combustible energy sourcing will emerge as we surrender collective commitment to the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

  • What Uncertainty Means to Me-- And You, and the Universe

This is an interesting article from the ScienceBlogs.com. The comments make it really interesting [Vlad].

Posted on: September 7, 2010 9:05 AM, by Chad Orzel

In chapter 2 of How to Teach Physics to Your Dog, there's a footnote about the ubiquity of uncertainty principle analogies in the mass media:

To give you an idea of the breadth of subjects in which this shows up, in June 2008, Google turned up citations of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle in (among others) an article from the Vermont Free Press about traffic cameras, a Toronto Star article citing the influence of YouTube on underground artists, and a blog article about the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. Incidentally, all of these articles also use the Uncertainty Principle incorrectly--by the end of this chapter, you should hopefully understand it better than any of them.

  • Void that is truly empty solves dark energy puzzle

by Rachel Courtland/ New Scientist - Physics & Math

EMPTY space may really be empty. Though quantum theory suggests that a vacuum should be fizzing with particle activity, it turns out that this paradoxical picture of nothingness may not be needed. A calmer view of the vacuum would also help resolve a nagging inconsistency with dark energy, the elusive force thought to be speeding up the expansion of the universe.
  • Can eletron have negative mass ?

The physicists believe that electron can have negative mass, and they believe that such conclusion is proven by a new experiment, published by Phys. Rev. Letters:

Coherent ballistic motion of electrons in a periodic potential
    W. Kuehn, P. Gaal, K. Reimann, M. Woerner, T. Elsaesser, R. Hey
    Physical Review Letters
    Vol.: 104, 146602 (2010)
    DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevLett.104.146602
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20481951

In the experiment, electrons have been accelerated with velocity 4.000.000km/h along a period of time of 100 femtoseconds (0,000 000 000 000 1 second).

    Dear Subscriber,
  • ... and Schrödinger wins the duel

Along the development of Quantum Mechanics in the 20th Century, there was a dispute Schrödinger versus Heisenberg, because the first one did not accept the interpretation that Bohr and Heisenberg proposed for the theory.

According to Heisenberg, a theory had to be developed free of metaphysical concepts.  When Schrödinger discovered the zitterbewegung in the Dirac's equation of the electron, he interpreted it as a physical phenomenon, according to which the electron would be moving with helical trajectory.
  • Combining best of competing theories

Cold Fusion is an inappropriate term, as accurately described by Steven Krivit in a recent article “ Cold Fusion is Neither” cold or fusion.  He provides  the background history and ongoing research before throwing his support solely behind the Widom Larsen theory (2006). I also believe the Widom Larsen theory has strong merit but not to the exclusion of other theories or a likely combination of processes based on these other theories. Mills has evidence of excess heat based on chemistry, The Haisch - Moddel patent is based on Casimir effect, Pam Mosier-Boss at SPAWAR provides evidence for Low energy nuclear reactions and Jan Naudt’s proposal of a relativistic environment for hydrogen.
